Electronic evidence is a component of almost all criminal activities and digital forensics support is crucial for law enforcement investigations. The purpose of digital forensics is to identify and preserve the digital evidence in its original form, to make it possible for relevant investigation procedures to be performed and conclusions made.
In order to improve technics and skills of identifying, acquiring, processing, analyzing, and reporting on data stored electronically, investigation technics used in Germany and EU have been presented to the police investigators and prosecutors. More than 20 police investigators and prosecutors of the Anti-Corruption Departments have participated in the first out of two five-day „Cybercrime Investigation Training“ held by cybercrime investigation experts from the North Rhine-Westphalia Police - Harald Lennemann, MSc.
